Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan was pictured returning from Tanzania where he carried out his most recent international job. 

It will be recalled that the former president was recently appointed Chair of the Commonwealth Observer Group to Tanzania's October 25 general elections.

Mr Jonathan has been in Tanzania throughout the election period.

Taboo! 18-year-old Rapes Mother, Bags 7 Years in Prison

An 18-year-old Malawian boy, identified as Macdonald Kusala, has been sentenced to seven years in prison with hard labour, for allegedly raping his own mother, who was drunk at the time, reports Face of Malawi.

The sentence was handed down to Kusala by a Balaka First Grade Magistrate Court, sitting in the Southern Region of the country, after he was found guilty of the dreadful act.

The police prosecutor in the case, Inspector Isaac Mponela, had told the court that Kusala had unlawful sex with his biological mother without her consent on August 21, 2015, an offence which is contrary to section 133 of the Penal code of the country.

Mponela said that on the day of the incident, Kusala's mother was totally drunk and he took advantage of her and had sex with her and was caught in the act by his brother.

Kusala pleaded guilty to the charge and asked for forgiveness and leniency in the sentencing, arguing that he is the first offender and that he was driven by the influence of alcohol.

First Grade Magistrate Felix Mandala, however denied him any leniency, saying that the suspect deserved a stiffer sentence because of the seriousness of the offence and much more, he did it to his own mother which is a taboo.

144 Virgins To Dance Half Nude At Olumba Obu's birthday In Calabar

About 144 virgins are warming up to organize a lavish banquet for their father in the lord, Leader Olumba Olumba Obu, to mark his birthday. The girls, according to report, will appear half nude to dance at the event.

Reports say that the event comes up in November.

 

Speaking to journalists on the theme for this year`s birthday activity, which a close source to Olumba Obu, said would be centered on “World Peace” at the Headquarters of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star in Calabar.

According to National Mirror, the Chairman Planning Committee, Dr. Goodnews Brown­son, said that this year father’s birthday celebration is ear­marked to impact much on the less privileged like orphans and prison inmates, and award scholarships to indigent and intelligent students to pursue undergraduate programmes at the nation`s tertiary institutions.

Brother Goodnews maintained that Obu`s birthday marking would attract dignitaries from the Nigeria`s enter­tainment industry like Nollywood stars, captains of indus­tries, business tycoons, academic icons and religious adher­ents from various denominations.

According to him, top on the agenda would be welfare visitations which had been packaged to bring succour to under privileged people, adding that Olumba would use the opportunity to consolidate on his support to orphanages and prisons, including scholarship awards to indigent peo­ple.

The Planning Committee Chairman enumerated Obu`s strides to include establishment of orphanage called Moth­er Theresa`s Home (The Redeemed Home) where he is catering for over one hundred children and Brotherhood colleges in Nigeria including some economic ventures to support them.

Dr. Goodnews maintained that the event will create a platform for friends and associates of Olumba Obu to dine with the father.

20 year old Maria Ekanem, who was arrested by the police along five other accomplices, said her boyfriend who got her pregnant, asked her to abort the baby but said a doctor helped her with free antenatal care and food until she gave birth.

Paraded along with Maria were a 55-year-old medical doctor, Okokon Offiong Okoho, the proprietor of Evangel Clinic, a 70-year-old matron of Sadatoe Maternity located at Umoh Street and a nurse at the maternity who allegedly made the plans to sell the girl to an Abuja-based lady who is now on the run.

However, plans to sell the two weeks old girl was leaked to the police by a Senior Secondary Two girl of NYSC Demonstration Secondary School, Calabar , Maria Elemi, whose parents Maria was living  with after she delivered the baby.

Elemi said to hav been suspicious of the ongoing development quickly raised an alarm and the police got involved apprehending all the suspects in the case.

Cross River Police Public Relations Officer, ASP John Eluu, who paraded Maria along with the doctor and Matron, said when information got to the police at the Federal Housing Police Station, detectives swung into action and arrested the suspects.

Eluu said investigations were continuing to apprehend the buyer of the girl who is now on the run.

Ekanem, a school drop out from Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State, said yesterday in Calabar that poverty and lack of where to stay after she gave birth made her sell her two weeks old baby girl for N20,000.
